Ear Infections
An ear infection flares up, and the usual remedy happens – a visit to the doctor and some antibiotics to follow. But then the infection comes back. Again. And again.
A cycle of returning to the doctor for care for the same problem over and over can get tiresome very quickly, and there may be another solution to this issue. Chiropractic care might not be the first inclination for when thinking of ear infections, but it can be effective at alleviating the pain and causing the problem to come back over and over.
Ear infections can be painful, and if they are much more common in children because the little ones are more prone to have fluid buildup behind their eardrum due to the tubes of their ears not being fully developed.
And there are a number of uncomfortable side effects that develop from ear infections. Of course, difficulty hearing and some pain are common with the infection, but there can also be difficulty sleeping and loss of balance.
That’s where chiropractic care might be able to help. Proper alignment ensure the nervous system is communicating correctly to all parts of the body, and it puts the body back in balance. By realigning the neck, it lets the tubes relax and allow the fluid to drain away. The reduction of the fluid will likely ease the other symptoms that are making your child fussy.
Not only can the chiropractic adjustment provide relief from the pain and discomfort of an ear infection, but the realignment might also reduce the inflammation in the ear, and help with the child’s coordination from the relief of the pressure. This alignment issue might be at the core of the problem if your child is repeatedly experiencing ear infections that come about for what feels like no reason at all.
Ear infections aren’t exclusive to just children, as they can also be a recurring problem for adults, too. But they are far more common in children, and small children sometimes have a hard time communicating what’s exactly wrong. That means getting them back in balance is vital to the prevention of larger issues.
There are times when ear infections can clear up all on their own. However, when it comes to infants and small children, they usually don’t disappear without some sort of treatment. That’s when it becomes a recurring problem. Due of the sensitive nature of the ear, letting chronic ear infections go unchecked can result in permanent damage to the organ.
